Description
A fully restored, completely functional and well running Singer 29K60 long-arm sewing machine. Ideal for leather, shoes, etc.A bit about the Singer 29 series: I've serviced, restored and used these machines for nearly 30 years. I'll tell you what they will, and will not do:
The 29 can handle about 5/16 of an inch of soft material such as cotton, canvas, etc. It can handle 1/4 inch of stiff tooling leather, no more than that....it simply doesn't have the lift capability to do so. "Lift" is the clearance from the bottom of the presser foot to the needle plate that covers the lower bobbin.
All 29's can use a variety of needle and thread combinations. They can easily handle thread from #69 up to #138, and perhaps a little heavier than that. This one is the " large bobbin" version.
As you likely know, the 29 can sew in a 360 degree circle , the presser foot can be turned in any direction to allow stitching on curves and circles. No 29 series has any form of " reverse"...that's where the turning foot comes in handy, it allows you to lock in the end of a stitch run.
This particular machine has been disassembled completely except for the internal main drive shaft. The forward sewing head was torn down, with all internals polished and oiled. All new paint was applied while the machine was disassembled.
There is an iron bar bolted to the right side leg, at the bottom horizontal section. This is to strengthen a crack that is in that section. The bar will hold forever, and isn't noticeable, but I believe in full disclosure. Please see photo of the right leg with a red/yellow arrow denoting the iron bar.
This machine sews exactly as it should, with the stitch regulator allowing stitch length from 1/16 inch to approximately 1/4 inch. Stitch length is adjustable.
Terms: Cash upon pickup. Sorry , I no longer ship these Singer 29's. For every 4 that made it to their destination safely, at least 1 was damaged by UPS, therefore, its just too much hassle chasing down insurance claims. My zip code is 26757, Romney, WV. Delivery is possible with a little planning at $ 1 per mile each way.
